Los Angeles to Tijuana for Laser Hair Removal: Cost & Day-Trip Guide
Is it worth driving from Los Angeles to Tijuana for laser hair removal? If you’re treating more than one area, the numbers say yes, even after gas and a day off. Here’s what you’d pay in LA and in Tijuana, plus how to plan the trip so it’s an easy day out.
LA vs. Tijuana: a real example
Most people treat several areas at once. Here’s one of the most common combinations, for one session and for a full 6-session package:

| You save | About $4,191 over 6 sessions | |
LaserAway figures use the lowest per-session prices reported for each area (full legs $399, bikini $199, underarms $199; Groupon, December 2025); LaserAway’s own Los Angeles page lists $99 to $649 per session. Perfect Skin US dollar amounts are converted from Mexican pesos at 18 MXN per US dollar and rounded.

Planning the trip from Los Angeles
By car
The San Ysidro crossing is about 130 miles from downtown LA, roughly a 2 to 2.5-hour drive without heavy traffic. From the border, our Plaza Río clinic is about 10 minutes away, with parking in the plaza. Buy Mexican auto insurance before you cross; it’s inexpensive and can be bought online for one day.
By train
Prefer not to drive? Take Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner from Union Station to San Diego, then the San Diego Trolley Blue Line to San Ysidro. Walk across the border and take an Uber to Plaza Río, about 10 minutes.
Coming back faster
If you drive, add a Pase Médico when you book: $46 USD ($820 MXN ÷ 18). It lets you use the medical lane, which is usually much faster than the general lanes. Weekend passes can be limited, so ask early. Read our full border-crossing guide.
Tips to get the most from each trip
- Treat several areas in one visit. The more areas you combine, the more each trip is worth.
- Book a package. 6 sessions are 20% off and 4 sessions are 15% off. Packages are valid for one year.
- Book your next session before you leave, so you only plan the trip once. Laser sessions are usually spaced about 4 to 6 weeks apart.
- Go on a weekday morning if you can: border lines are usually shortest then. Plaza Río is open 7 days.
- Add a facial. Make the most of the trip with an Aqua Facial for $49 USD ($885 MXN ÷ 18).
Live closer to the border? Look at the membership
If you’re in San Diego or can visit monthly, our Perfect Pass® Platino membership is usually the best value: one visit a month with up to 2 hours of laser on any areas, a welcome Aqua Facial and 50% off other treatments, for $115.94 USD a month (plus a sign-up fee, 12-month contract).
