Your First Laser Hair Removal Session in Tijuana: Prep & Aftercare
Booked your first laser hair removal session in Tijuana? Here’s everything to know before you go: how to prepare your skin, what happens at the clinic, and how to take care of your skin once you’re back home in San Diego or LA.
Before your session
| When | What to do | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 4 weeks before | Stop waxing, plucking and epilating. Shaving is fine. | The laser needs the hair root in place to work. |
| 2 weeks before | Avoid tanning, tanning beds and self-tanner. | Tanned skin raises the risk of irritation. |
| Day before | Shave the area closely. | Hair on the surface absorbs energy and can irritate the skin. |
| Day of | Skip lotion, deodorant and makeup on the area. Bring your passport. | Products on the skin can interfere with the laser. |
Tell us at your consultation if you take any medications, are pregnant, or have a skin condition. Some medications make skin more sensitive to light.
At the clinic
- Free consultation first. We check your skin and hair type, confirm the areas and give you the price before we start.
- Quick sessions. A few minutes for small areas, up to about an hour for large areas or several areas together.
- What it feels like. Most people describe a quick snap or warmth on the skin. Our technicians adjust settings to your comfort.
- Our team. Our technicians are all women and do laser hair removal every day.
After your session
- Some redness is normal. It usually fades within a few hours to a day.
- Use sunscreen on treated areas and avoid tanning for about 2 weeks.
- For 24 to 48 hours, skip hot tubs, saunas and intense workouts.
- Hair may seem to «grow» for a week or two. That’s treated hair shedding; don’t pluck it.

Planning the rest of your sessions
Laser takes several sessions, usually about 4 to 6 weeks apart. Book your next one before you leave, so you only plan the trip once. A 6-session package saves you 20%, and if you treat several areas, our Perfect Pass® Platino membership is usually the best value.
